Get ready for a fantastic 2016-2017 school year!
Let's GO FOR GOLD in first grade this year! As we get into the game, we will focus on many skills that will prepare you for success in the future. To help start out the school year, there are many important details that I would like to share with you.
The most important things for making sure it's a winning year are to eat your breakfast, throw on your uniform, and to arrive to school on time. I expect all students to come to school prepared with all the tools they need to be successful in school. Communication is very important. I will use your Daily Planner as a tool to communicate with your families. It must be signed every night. The planners are used daily so your parents can communicate with me too!
So our students are ready for the new school year, we would appreciate if you worked just a bit before school starts.
Math
* start practicing your addition and subtraction facts up to 10
* count by 2's, 5's and 10's
* word problems
* pattern small objects at home
* solid and plane shapes
Reading
* read at least 15 minutes every day (20 minutes is BEST)
* talk to your child about the books they read

* practice writing about exciting after school or weekend activities
